Emergency Contact Informationis Vital to Our Senior Citizens
The Castle Shannon Police Department has posted a form to be filled out of family members of Senior Citizens in the borough to contact in the event of an emergency.
Many times police are called to check on a senior citizen's welfare and there is no answer at the door. Chief Harold Lane is committed to making contact with the resident and at times officers have to force their entry into the residence. By filling out the form with emergency names and telephone numbers the police officers can first contact someone to see if they know of a reason the citizen may not answer the door. If there is a suspicion the police will enter but with an emergency contact with a key it is less destructive.
Chief Lane states that emergency contacts are also vital in the event a citizen is ill or has fallen and had to be taken to a hospital. The contact person can both be notified and answer important medical information.
Relatives of Senior Citizens are encouraged to fill out the form posted on the Police Web Site and return it to the police department. This information is maintained in the police vehicle computers and can be read quickly.
