Minutes of January 15th 2008

Call to Order
Vince Smith, President of the Castle Shannon Youth Association (CSYA) called the meeting to order at 7:00pm in Community Meeting Room A of the Castle Shannon Municipal Building.

Secretary Report:
Motion was made to approve the minutes by Rick Mazzarini and seconded by Scott Walther. The motion passed unanimously. Approval of minutes from last meeting:
Shawn Slan makes a motion to approve the minutes from the 10/16/07 meeting. Scott Walther seconds the motion; all in favor, motion carries.

Treasurer's Report:
Bruce Hrivnak presents the membership with an itemized financial report with a balance of $15,347.19.

He is creating a new spreadsheet to classify any way we want to track each sport by age group or as a total. Sheet that was presented was an aggregate and basically trying to figure out if each sport profitable. Presently the report is mostly blank as I am starting with 2008 2nd/3rd grade basketball registration. He reclassified $740 from last year's 2nd/3rd grade basketball registration and brought it forward to this year. Back page of new spreadsheet will track sponsorships, fundraisers and miscellaneous operating expenses.

Sponsorship money received to date: $1425
Grant check for Sleepy Hollow field has been received.
Municipal Field: $4500 in funds remaining - Owe Steve $1500 and $3000 left for Electrical.

Rick Mazzarini makes a motion to approve the Treasurer's report; Scott Walther seconds the motion; all in favor and motion carries.

Presidents Report
Vince Smith asked the board and public if all were able to read the Code of Ethics. All board members responded "Yes". Matt Morrow makes a motion to approve the Code of Ethics, Rick Mazzarini seconds the motion; all in favor and motion carries.

Vice Presidents Report

Trustees Report
Scott Walther contacted Bill Clasper about commissioning softball for CSYA. Bill has contact SWIG; first meeting will be in January 27th @7pm at Ingram Borough Building. Anyone interested in attending is welcome to attend with him.

Equipment Managers Report
2nd/ 3rd Grade basketball got the uniforms and first-aid supplies. He recovered all first-aid supplies from the room as well as the first-aid kits. He is in the process of cleaning them up for next year. He is working on streamlining the first-aid purchases this year.

Sponsorship Committee:
Amy Hindes (Chairperson)
Bruce Hrivnak spoke for Amy as she could not attend. Doing a fantastic job! Total funds collected so far $1425. She has a group of six other sponsors that have given us a "Yes" to sponsor. She has an additional list of 12 sponsors we are waiting to hear from.

Bill Clasper asked about Softball sponsors as none were listed. Need to contact Diane Lasko and CS Borough for sponsorship. Also, Pittsburgh Pizza Guys; they asked where we were last year. Fundraiser Committee
Volunteers: Tracey Price, Christina Morrow, Heather DiGiacomo, April Willson, Heather Fisher
Tracey is going to organize a meeting with the other volunteers by the end of the month.

Community Day is approaching and it is time to start thinking about ideas for a booth (Batting Cage or Football Toss).

Vince Smith announced the Annual CSYA Golf outing will be held July 25th.

Heather DiGiacomo asked if a decision has been made whether or not she will be able to sell Cookie Lee merchandise at CSYA Events. Vince Smith makes a motion to approve, Rick Mazzarini seconds the motion; all in favor and motion carries.

New Business:
Tracey Price: Filing a complaint for 2nd / 3rd grade basketball registration and how her son and another 1st grader were informed that they would not be allowed to participate. She wanted to let the board know that how it was handled was completely unacceptable.Vince Smith apologized to Ms. Price on behalf of the board and explained that Basketball sign-ups will be moved to November.
CSYA Signups are Jan 26th 1-3p/Feb 5th 7-9p/Feb 10th 1-3p at CS Borough Building.
Vince Smith made a motion to adjourn at 7:26pm; Rick Mazzarini seconded the motion; all in favor, motion carried.
Next meeting will be on February 19th at 7:00pm in the Castle Shannon Borough Community Meeting Room.
