Minutes of October 21st 2008

Call to Order
Vince Smith, President of the Castle Shannon Youth Association (CSYA) called the meeting to order at 7:00pm in Community Meeting Room A of the Castle Shannon Municipal Building.

Secretary Report:
There were no changes made to the last meeting minutes. Motion was made to approve the minutes by Rick Mazzarini and seconded by Shawn Slan. The motion passed unanimously.

Treasurer's Report:
Bruce Hrivnak presents the membership with an itemized financial report with a balance of $19,246.07 with a spendable balance $9246.70.
$715 check for Fall Soccer Startup/End of Season
$780 to DABA for Fall Baseball - cost $15 per kid for a uniform
$500 Grant Money being sent back - Municipal Grant will be closed
$10,000 still open for Sleepy Hollow

Vince Smith makes a motion to approve the treasures report; Matt Morrow seconds the motion; all in favor, motion carries.

Presidents Report
We have the Myrtle Gym on Tuesday and Thursday for 4-5-6 grade Basketball.

Vice Presidents Report
Will be contacting Dormont and Green Tree to discuss baseball '09.

Commissioners Report:
Fall Soccer: Matt Morrow
End of Season will be Sunday 10/26. Reported 7/8 goals have numerous holes and will need to be replaced. U10 Goal Nets will need to be replaced as well.
Fall Baseball: Bruce Hrivnak
End of season - only complaint - no umpires for fall (u8/9 & u10/11). No end of season party.
Softball:

Sponsorship Committee:

Fundraiser Committee Glenn Schreiber:- Presenting Interstate Battery fundraiser
- This is a new sell in the area - 2nd yr for the program - 1st yr in Pgh
- Sell 10 items per player about $60 profit -Sell 15 items about $100 profit
- Give out at registration and get them back by the first practice.
- More work for the board - getting the product then getting it to the buyers.

Discussion on Fundraiser options with Tickets and/or Candy. Glenn gave multiple options and will be tabled to an executive board meeting at a later date. Board is looking to lower registration costs.

No report.
-Executive meeting will be scheduled 1st week of November…Matt Morrow will schedule
-2009 Registration Dates - Jan 22nd, Jan 24th and Feb 12th after these dates registration will be closed unless teams are not completely filled.
- Need to determine what will be done with Sleepy Hollow Grant Money.
- Basketball Registration/Play - need to have all board members involved. Need to have a registration - date set for Thursday Nov 5th. Matt will create flyer and distribute to Myrtle, St. Anne, Dormont and Middle School.
- Discussion on moving u10 soccer to KOA. Matt Morrow will contact KOA Soccer Club.
- 2nd / 3rd Grade basketball registration will be in December.

New Business:
Mike Wetmiller
- Offered to volunteer at annual registration.
-Suggested that we purchase reversible Soccer Shirts to cut costs and child will keep through their time in CSYA. May need to purchase new uniform as they grow.
- Baseball - can we keep records for playoffs? Two best record teams should not play the first playoff game against each other.

Discussion ensued as to why do not keep records/stats. Joe Willson will bring up at winter baseball meetings about records and playoff seating's.

Vince Smith made a motion to adjourn at TIME pm; Shawn Slan seconded the motion; all in favor, motion carried.

Next meeting will be on November 18th at 7:00pm in the CSYA Meeting Room.
