Shawn is contacting basketball commissioners for 2nd / 3rd grade basketball Shawn asked if anyone else is interested. Dan Collins has already volunteered his services to commission along with Steve Hartz. Dan will contact Steve directly.
Shawn Slan nominates Dan Collins w/ Steve Hartz to commission 2nd / 3rd grade basketball, Shawn motions to approve to the board to accept; all in favor, motion carries. Shawn and Scott are leaving it up to Dan and Steve to find coaches.
Scott informs the board/public that 6th, 7th and 8th grade basketball program has been dropped as the Trustees could not find anyone to run the program. We are turning the program over to Mike Iorio 412-341-0408- so if our kids are going to play they will need to contact him or we will get the information to him in Dormont. CSYA is going to give Mike our GYM time.
Parents of the kids that were signed up will be refunded the signup fees.
Fundraiser committee - Tracey Price will be heading up the fundraiser committee (see below). They were told to bring all ideas to the board.
John Philistine: proposed a fundraiser book that would include all players' names with contact information as well as Sponsor ads. Shawn mentions that it is a good idea but we want to focus on getting Sponsor Names back onto shirts first as we lost a lot of sponsors last year. John mentions that a Sponsor gets into the book when they sponsor a team or this could be used as another type of sponsorship idea just to get into the book.
Vince Smith asked John to leave the book for the board review and will let him know how we will proceed at the next meeting.

Members: Christina Morrow, Heather DiGiacomo, April Willson, Heather Fisher
Present Fundraiser: (Old Country Lucky Lotto) 40 Spot - $50 Profit book - 3yrs running (250 books)
Glenn Schreiber (Old Country Lucky Lotto): Presented several fund raising ideas to the board for consideration.
Present Fundraiser: 40 Spot - $50 Profit book - 3yrs running (250 books)
Most popular are the 2nd and 3rd ($75 / $100 Profit) - $125 profit is not good for CSYA.
CSYA has had a lot of success with present fundraiser.
Glenn stated that the "Higher the price - Harder to sell and need to give away more if we would go to the $75/$100 profit". Could be done via a Raffle - Suggested that it should be done on OPEN DAY of Baseball/Soccer season. Give away BIG Screen TV or $1200 cash or other gift ideas.
New Suggestion: If our numbers should go down and would want another idea…based on the LOTTERY # (cannot use 3 digit lottery) Use the 4 digit lottery - 200 books - 40 spots but 50 tickets in each book extra 10 tickets to seller they are free…still $50 profit. Or raffle - 50 tickets in each book.
Need to update printing on tickets to include: All unsold tickets are property of CSYA. Prizes void after 60 days.
Sponsorship Committee:
Chairperson(s): Amy Hindes
Amy is reporting our first sponsor of the year - Dr. Hess - he will sponsor a Baseball and Soccer Team.
She has a copy of the Sponsorship form and added her contact information. Matt Morrow will get her the updated form with logo.

Old Business: No report.
New Business:
Brian Brannon:
* First experience with coaching baseball and thanked all involved. Also, thanked Bruce Hrivnak and Dan Collins for commissioning Fall Baseball…job well done!
* Noticed this season with injuries to kids on the field of play and would like to address the issue of First-aid. Other communities have coaches go through a coach's clinic and one of the topics is first-aid. He feels this would make us a better organization and help compete with the larger communities. He was wondering if there was any thought to progressing in that area of First-aid education.
* He also spoke with paramedic's about when a player gets injured by a ball especially in the chest, he was concerned that coaches are moving the player and may be causing more harm. Is there legal representation for CSYA coaches should they happen to hurt the player even more by moving the player? Vince Smith responded "YES, we do have insurance". This is a good point that was brought to the board's attention.
Shawn Slan asked "Do we have to have a licensed person to train our coaches? Brian said yes from an organization standpoint we should have a licensed/certified person do the training.
Tracey Price: Mention that during that last fall soccer game there wasn't enough ice packs available and could not believe there weren't any available. Feels there should be a good type of first-aid kit available. Linda Wilson responded that we did run out but on that particular day as there were numerous incidents that used up 6 or 7 of the ice packs that were available.
Vince Smith: Thanked Linda Wilson, Russ Wilson and Bill Clasper for their hard and dedicated work on the CSYA board for past 2yrs. Vince then called the new CSYA board members from the audience to take their new positions: Joe Wilson (VP) , Matt Morrow (Sec), Bruce Hrivnak (Treasurer) and Rick Mazzarini (Equip Mgr).
Dan Collins asked about the Code of Conduct. Vince responded that we need to vote on the change. Joe Willson said the intent was to post the Code of Conduct onto the web site now then voted on at our next meeting.
Vince Smith made a motion to adjourn at 7:26pm; Scott Walther seconded the motion; all in favor, motion carried.
Next Public Meeting will be on January 15th at 7:00pm in the CSYA Meeting Room at the Castle Shannon Borough building.
