MEMO FROM THE MAYOR by Mayor Donald Baumgarten
To my fellow citizens,
In the Spring newsletter, I talked about our community considering a
move from the South Hills Regional Dispatch Center (SHRDC) to the
Allegheny County Dispatch Center in Point Breeze. Since that time Castle
Shannon, Baldwin Township and Medical Rescue Team South Authority
(MRTSA) have all given notice to the SHRDC that they intend to join the
county beginning Jan. 1, 2005.
Borough Council and I are very confident that there will not be any
degradation of service by making this move. In addition, the cost savings
to the three entities will be approximately $200,000 annually. I want to
emphasize that this decision was not based on cost savings alone. We are
confident our 911 service as it relates to response time will not be
compromised.
This year’s winner of the Mayor’s Award for
Community Service is Miss Adrianne L.
Grand, a 2004 graduate of Keystone Oaks
High School.

Miss Grand performed 563 total hours of
community service during her high school
years. She received the St. Joan of
Arc Medallion Award, the President’s
Physical Fitness Award, and was
Outstanding Young Citizen Award nominee.
She is also listed in Who’s Who Among
American High School Students.
Miss Grand is the only KO High School female
to letter in four sports in one year. She is also
the school’s female record holder in diving.
She is currently attending Allegheny College in Meadville, PA.
We have received numerous complaints of dogs running loose in some
neighborhoods. I want to remind our dog owners that according to our
ordinance, all dogs must be leashed outside of their own yard.
