Additional Route 88 Traffic Work to start September 7, 2010. 8-30-10
PennDOT has contracted with A. Folino Construction to provide road resurfacing on Route 88 starting on September 7, 2010.
The work will be done at night between 8p and 6a and should be completed by October 31, 2010.
Traffic flow is expected to be maintained at all times, although motorists should be alert for construction vehicles and workers in the area and use appropriate caution.
This project will begin at Castle Shannon Blvd and work southbound through Bethel Park.
The contractor has distributed NOTICE LETTERS to resident. If you have specific questions, the contractor contact is Ron Bradburn 412.812.2865.
Castle Shannon Police announce Sixth Street restrictions for water company work on the roadway starting August 30th. 8-27-10
PA American water has contracted work to Triangle Construction for water main work on Sixth St in Castle Shannon. The project starting August 30th is expected to last 2-3 weeks. Workers will be closing one lane of traffic during the day to work on a water line under the roadway.
Flaggers will be on hand to direct traffic flow, but motorists should be aware of the work, potential delays and watch for workers in that area.
Route 88 opened this morning for southbound traffic at Sixth Street to Castle Shannon Blvd. 8-13-10
The Contractors finished work in the center lanes of Route 88 this week, earlier than anticipated.
At 9am workers started moving barricades to the southbound curb lane where work will continue.
South bound traffic opened at Sixth Street by 12pm and will be using the center lane.
Drivers are urged to continue to use caution in the area until project completion, watching for stopped traffic, construction vehicles and workers on foot.
SLOW DOWN in traffic work zones on Route 88! 12-15-09
The CSPD weekly blotter shows recurring crashes on Rte 88 over the past few weeks. A review of those incidents shows that in most cases, drivers are not paying attention or driving too fast for conditions and striking other vehicles stopped in traffic.
State Law requires reduced speeds and activated headlamps in construction zones.
The Route 88/Library Road construction projects will continue into Spring 2010.
Please slow down, turn on your headlamps, and watch for workers and stopped traffic.
